Each entry needs to be registered on the competition website. 

Announcing: The 4th inaugural “Battle of Alberta” Homebrew competition! 

Theme: a mini brew competition designed to showcase the versatility & range of Alberta’s top “Homebrewers”.  

To encourage participation this year, we have provided a broader range of beers that entrants can submit into each category. 
 

- Format: each participant will submit 3 entries total, across varying styles. They will submit one entry in each of the below categories:

 1). Hoppy Pilsner

 2). Scottish Ale

 3). Strong Belgian Ale

- Each beer will be judged / scored individually based on the BJCP standard for that category. 

- The points for EACH entry will be accumulated towards a final score. The brewer(s) with the highest combined score will be crowned victors. 

Open to any homebrew club or individual residing in Alberta

- BJCP registered event

- Entry deadline: Dec 1

- Judging to take place Saturday, Dec 5

- $35 entry fee (gets you 3 entries)

- “Cash Prizes”  will be awarded to 1st , 2nd , 3rd place. Amounts will depend on total # of entrants. 100% ofentry fees will go towards the total prize pool.

Style 1: Hoppy Pilsner: (Pick ONE)

5D German Pilsner 

X5 New Zealand Pilsner

34B. Mixed Style such as Italian Pilsner, West Coast Pilsner, any other regional specific hoppy pilsner. 
 

Style 2: Scottish Ale (Pick ONE)

14C Scottish Export 

Style 3: Belgian Ale (Pick ONE)

Entry Acceptance Rules

ENTRY GUIDELINES: The deadline for receiving entries and fee payment is 18:00 on June 10, 2026

 Submit TWO bottles of homebrewed beer, or TWO bottles of mead, or cider per entry. Bottles will not be returned.

 Each entry will consist of 300ml to 750ml capped bottles/cans or corked bottles that are void of ALL identifying information, including any writing or labels. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

To each bottle, attach a completed BJCP bottle entry label using a rubber band. Entry labels can be printed by clicking the print icon next to each of your entries on the “Account” -> “Entries” page. A small amount of Scotch tape can be used to secure the label; please avoid maskign tape or other difficult to remove adhesives. 

 The entry fee is $10 per entry. Fees can be paid by PayPal only as this allows the software to mark your entries as paid. Cash will be spent by the organizers to pay the bar tab and cheques will be used as coasters ;)
